Though Pelling has a helipad, the nearest commercial airport is Bagdogra Airport (IXB).

To reach Pelling, one have to get a shared or reserved vehicle from Bagdogra, which is 142 km and take around 4-5 hrs drive.

By Train

The nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP), about 130 kilometres away. The station, which is 20 mins drive from Siliguri, is the gateway for all Sikkim, Darjeeling and Bhutan. It is well-connected to major cities like Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai and New Delhi.

Pemayangtse Monastery-A famous pelling sightseeing place

Being around 300 years old, it is a must visit place as it offers the reflection of the rich architecture and the unwavering faith of the Buddhist followers.The monastery was founded by Lama Lhatsun Chempo in 1647 and it is one of the oldest monasetry in sikkim.It is located at the distance of 2km from Pelling baazar and thousands of travellers visit this place every year.The interior is mainted in pure tibetan design and it mainly reflects tibetan buddhism with statue of rinpoches .Pemayangtse Monastery is also known as five treasures of snow .Every year festival is performed in this monastery called “Cham dance” and we can see dances being performed by lamas and a large number of buddhist believers attain the festival . The monks of this monastery are identified by their red hats and there are almost 108 monks you will find in the monastery and they are the only monks titled with “ta-tshang".

From mid March till June, Pelling and its sightseeing places experiences pleasant weather during the summer season. The temperature hovers 2°C to 28°C during the season. It is the best time to visit if you would like to escape the heat.

From July till September, monsoons causes swift rainfall, many a time causing landslides and road blockage. This is not the best time to visit.

From October till March, winter is the best time for travelling to Pelling. The temperature ranges between -5°C and 7°C during the season.
